Valkyria Chronicles 4 update for late December

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you are well, enjoyed your Christmas with loved ones and received various fine gifts. Another gift from myself to all of you is the following gaming news update below.

The main characters of Valkyria Chronicles 4,
squad leader Claude Wallace, grenadier Riley Miller,
sniper Kai Schulen and assault soldier Raz

SEGA is currently working on the latest in the Valkyria Chronicles series with Valkyria Chronicles 4: Eastern Front. The game is scheduled for release for the PlayStation 4 on March 21st, 2018 and the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2018 in Japan, and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch in 2018 in the Americas and Europe (thanks Gameatsu). You can check out the latest trailer for the game below.

The newest upcoming entry takes place around the fictional continent of Europa in 1935 during the Second European War. Due to complications in battle, squad leader of Edinburgh Army 101st Division No.1, Claude Wallace (below) is ordered to partake in "Operation Northern Cross,” a major counterattack to raid the empire’s capital city in order to overturn the Federation’s numerical inferiority.

You can check out images of Claude and his comrades Riley Miller, Kai Schulen and Raz below.

A few images have also been shared of the members representing the Imperial Federation Army's in the game (from left to right) Nikola Graf, Belger, Chiarra Rocino, Crymaria Levic with her aptly named wolf, Fenrir, Forseti and Klaus Walz. You can check these out below.

I will do a more detailed write-up over the New Year for the game which looks to be channeling the vibe of the original Valkyria Chronicles in its presentation. What do you think of what's been shared of the upcoming entry in the series? And do you have any hopes for the game when it gets released in March next year? Do share your thoughts in the Comments section below. Also like and share this post via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

Capcom shares further details about SFV's Extra Battle mode

Leading up to the new release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom has shared further details about the game's new Extra Battle mode.

Players will be able to obtain additional costumes that pay tribute to other Capcom franchises such as Viewtiful Joe, Star Gladiator, Captain Commando and more. You can see how some of these will look via the screens below.

Players will have a chance each month to complete four weekly challenges, each costing 2,500FM. If they are successful they will obtain that month's costume for one of the game's roster.

For those who think this is another way for developer Capcom to extract hard-earned FM from players, there will be occasional challenges available for players to complete. In Capcom's own words from the Unity blog:

Every few weeks, a Golden Shadaloo soldier will appear separately from the weekly Crossover Costume challenges, giving you an opportunity to earn a decent amount of Fight Money throughout 2018!

These challenges will be repeatable to a certain degree and again will cost FM to participate (though not as much as much for the weekly challenges tied to the crossover costumes). Hopefully they will act as a useful means of gaining FM in SFV: Arcade Edition when it is released on January 16th, 2018.

Perhaps to balance the good news above, in a bit of disappointing news Capcom will be removing the ability to gain one-time batches of FM from completing General Story, Character stories, Survival, Trials and Demonstrations in SFV. These will be in the game until January 16th when Arcade Edition launches. After this date players will still be able to gain FM from leveling characters up (1000 FM per level) with the developer suggesting that completing the character stories will be a quick way of doing this.

Although its sad to here that Capcom is taking way the ability for players to earn FM in certain ways and charging players FM for the ability to obtain specific costumes, hopefully the modes that area being implemented with Arcade Edition act as suitable replacements.

What do you think of the recent details Capcom has shared about SFV:AE's Extra Battle Mode and the crossover costumes? Do you think they are right to charge FM for players to have the opportunity to obtain these costumes? And how do you feel about Capcom changing the ways that FM can be gained in-game? Capcom held the Top 32 tournament for its annual Capcom Cup yesterday in Anaheim, California. In addition to the high levels of play on display the developer had a couple of additional surprises to share

The most important update was the unveiling of the six character the developer intends to add in its upcoming Season 3 of DLC characters got the game. You can check a small preview of how they may end up looking in the cinematic opening for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition via the trailer below.

Sakura makes her return and has finally moved on
from school life (finally)

First December update

Good evening everyone. I'm sorry to have left updating the blog for three weeks but I'm back with some interesting details and videos to share.

First up is the newest trailer for the upcoming updated version of Capcom's famed one-on-one fighter, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

The trailer shows some of the new V-Triggers that will be available to use in the game for characters such as Ryu, Nash, Birdie, Zeku and Menat among others.

You can check the trailer highlighting these new maneuvers out below.

Capcom has also recently shared a trailer for the next three DLC characters it will be adding to its current 2-vs-2 tag team fighter, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

Captain America's old friend James 'Bucky' Barnes will be joining as the metal-armed Winter Soldier together with Avengers mainstay and double agent, Black Widow. Joining them is a returnee last seen in Marvel vs Capcom 2 and a long-standing enemy of Spiderman, Venom.

You can check out how these three will look in action via the reveal trailer below.

The above characters are included in the Character Pass for the game or can purchased for the somewhat steep price of £6.49 each (via this page on PSN).

A light Saturday update

I've noticed looking on the blog that it has been dormant for almost a month. I may begin updating the blog regularly on the weekend with occasional light updates through the week going forwards.

The latest big announcement was the confirmation of which characters will be coming in the Fighter Pack 3 for Netherealm Studios' DC comics-based brawler, Injustice 2.

Joining the existing roster this time around will be The Atom, Enchantress and through a total curveball of a selection, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

You can check out the latest trailer showcasing the aforementioned characters below.

Additionally one of my favourite (if not actually preferred) fighting game developers, SNK, has been releasing an episodic CG series based around its long-running team based versus fighter called The King of Fighters: Destiny.

You can check out episode 1 above and the series as a whole is currently up to episode 15 at the time of posting this update. All the episodes can be watched on the official SNK YouTube channel.

What do you think of the latest character reveals for Injustice 2? And will you be watching any of the episodes of The King of Fighters: Destiny? Please share your thoughts on the Comments section. Also like this post and share it via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

Capcom has recently announced the last character for its Season 2 set of DLC characters for the latest in its long-running fighting game series, Street Fighter V

The character will be available to use from October 24th. In the meantime you can check out his trailer (and the sweet flute-led theme) below.

What do you think of the latest DLC character reveal for SFV in Zeku? Will you play him once he becomes available in the game next week? Do share your thoughts in the Comments section. Alternatively you can like and share this update via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

I apologise for the lack of updates recently. I have had quite a busy time at work recently and have equally been on the go over the weekend. I will be getting back to providing regular updates through September and the following months though, what with Marvel vs Capcom Infinite out this month.

Look forward to my future updates on gaming news and all of entertainment culture here at Honeyman-On.

SFV's newest character, Menat, is now live (30th Anniversary costumes also added with latest update)

Capcom's leading fighting game series, Street Fighter V, receives its newest fighter to the roster with the smooth-moving fortune teller, Menat.

Rose's apprentice with a unique groove,
Menat joins the fray

The apprentice of an Italian fortune teller (most likely Street Fighter Alpha's Rose), Menat uses her crystal ball amidst her regular attacks, allowing those players more technically minded to pull off some fairly interesting combos.

You can check her out (and her Joe Satriani-like character theme) via the trailer below.

Capcom has also added costumes for M. Bison, Guile, Karin and Ibuki to the game to commemorate Street Fighter's 30th Anniversary. They look pretty nice and hopefully Capcom will eventually make costumes to cover the entire existing roster to mark the occasion. They will set you back £3.29 each.

What do you think of the new addition to the cast in Menat? Will you be using her in Street Fighter V? And will you be getting any of the newly added costumes? Share what you think in the Comments section here. Alternatively you can share this post via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

SFV 30th anniversary costumes, MvC Infinite story trailer and more

I need to assure that I update the blog more often going forwards. That said, the last few weeks have seen me busy with a new job role and being quite social in the later period of summer. That won't stop me updating the blog though and the latest update is quite a great (and Capcom-centric) one.

Firstly we have details of new costumes coming to Capcom's leading fighting franchise, Street Fighter. M. Bison, Guile, Ibuki and Karin will all receive new costumes on August 29th, costing £3.29 each. You can check out some screens of them below (thanks Capcom Unity).

Newest update shows UNIEL:ST's opening, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and more

E3 has passed by for this year and we're still soaking up the aftermath. Therefore there is still a great deal of information flowing out from this year's game-centric event held in Los Angeles.

In the meantime, Japanese fighting game developer French Bread has shared the opening for its upcoming release of Under Night In-Birth: Exe-Late ST (hereafter referred to as UNIEL:ST). You can check this out via the video below.

The updated version of French Bread's weapons-based fighter is looking
pretty nice

Capcom has also confirmed more additions to the roster of its upcoming 2-on-2 crossover fighter, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. You can check out some of the more recent gameplay footage via the videos below.

More information on upcoming titles from E3 2017

As many of you game lovers will be aware, this year's E3 is currently underway at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. Many interesting announcements have already surfaced from this year's event, a few of which you can read about below.

Firstly there's a new trailer for the upcoming crossover fighter Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, showcasing the likes of Dante, Rocket Racoon, Arthur, Nova, Spencer, Dr. Strange, Zero and the mighty Thanos. It shows some of the crossover combo potential available in the game as well as more use of the infinity stones (in this case the Power Stone). You can check this out below.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is looking nicer as we near that
mid-September release date. Hopefully it will look even smoother
once it hits physical/online retailers.

Capcom has also been nice enough to make a demo of the game's Story Mode available for download. You can find the demo (which clocks in at 5.7Gb) via the link below:

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/marvel-vs-capcom-infinite-demo/cid=EP0102-CUSA08443_00-DUCKDEMO00000000

Xbox One owners can find the demo here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/marvel-vs-capcom-infinite-demo/c07tl9sg62qc

Not to be left out, fighting game developer Arc System Works is currently working on a new 2.5D Dragonball fighting game. The new title is a 3-vs-3 fighter using a graphics engine similar to its recent Guiy Gear Xrd titles. You can check the trailer from E3 out for this below.

One things for sure. The game looks very true to the spirit of
the Dragonball series

A recent post over at Bandai Namco's Twitter account also suggests the game will be seeing a closed Beta this Summer on the Xbox One and PS4. It looks like many of us will be fighting many an epic fight or two in a couple of months time.

In another update, Namco Bandai confirmed that Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will be getting a release this year on November 10th. A new story-based trailer was shared at E3. You can check this (and all the lovely regional accents) out below.

Lovely as always, Level 5's upcoming sequel is looking
equal parts captivating and charming

Courtesy of Sony's E3 conference we go to see some gameplay footage of Sucker Punch's upcoming Spiderman title. What's good to see is Marvel and the developer caring about producing a great Spiderman title and if the footage is anything to go by, it will be.

You can check Peter Parker's web-slinging antics out that involves villain Mr. Negative via the gameplay video below.

Spiderman swinging around New York, taking goons down
and carrying out superhuman feats. What's not to like?

Finally Sony shared more information on its upcoming reimagining of violent brawling series with Greecian mythical elements, God of War.

This time around it appears Kratos has exchanged the lands of Ancient Greece for a more chilly climate. He also appears to have a son in tow for this journey too (influences of The Last of Us by chance?)

Whatever the case or however arduous the journey, you can check out the latest trailer straight from E3 below.

Santa Monica Studio shows this could be
the greatest and most involving God of War title yet

So those are some of the juiciest reveals from this year's E3. The reveals and impressions will be happening throughout the week so do check back for more updates from E3 2017. Also share what you think of the above in the Comments below. You can also share this on Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

An array of game announcements at E3

So the Christmas for gaming annual event, E3, is underway in Los Angeles with some of the industry's biggest publishers holding their own conferences.

Of note were many of the announcements coming from major American games publisher, Bethesda. Among them were the likes of Dishonoured spin-off, End of the Outsider, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and my personal favourite, The Evil Within 2.

You can check out the trailer for the upcoming sequel to Shinji Mikami's original which saw its release back in October 2014.

Waking up this morning I managed to catch some of publisher Devolver Digital's own conference which appeared to be a result of the presenters all being on some high end drugs. If you want to check out what that was all about, you can do so via the archived stream below.

The next major E3 conference will be Sony's which begins with a pre-show warm-up at 5:00pm PDT (so 1:00am EST for us Brits. Those who're interested may want to have a mild coffee or two later this evening so they don't fall asleep beforehand).

You can check that stream out via any of the links below (I'll try to ratch what I can before I get too tired):

New Street Fighter update adds new DLC character, CFN update, tweaks and more

Hello everyone. I hope you are well and enjoying the blessed great weather this week. To accompany this, read below for the latest fighting game news to come our way.

Firstly Capcom has shared further details about its next update to its front-running fighting title, Street Fighter V. Details over at the Capcom Unity blog reveal that in addition to the newest DLC character, Ed, being added to the game's available roster, a classic throwback stage in homage to Vega's Spanish-set SFII stage will be made available with next Tuesday's update. You can check out a little bit of Vega using the stage's cage fence to scale, then jump from before clawing at SFV's newest entrant below:

Those fence-climbing antics of Vega's
return to Street Fighter once more

The stage will set players back €3.99/£3.29 or 70,000 FM. The throwback Bison Thailand stage will also be getting added back into the game with the new update, costing €3.99/£3.29 or 70,000 FM. The overconfident fist fighter Ed will set you back either £4.99 or 100,000 FM if you want to add him to the game's roster.

Now an ongoing bone of contention has been the small number of means with which to accrue Fight Money in the game. The good news however is that as of May 30th Street Fighter V's new CFN will be made available to all players who download the latest update. This will see a substantial update to SFV's online experience, new balance changes, matchmaking improvements and additional benefits (of which more information can be found right here).

Bison's potential new body sticking it to the old one in style

The beautiful cherry on top lies in the 50,000 FM bonus for signing in at any point from May 30th - June 13th PST (those dates also apply for European/British players too).

The final mention of the new update is further information on the upcoming targets that will be available for completion by those who have purchased the Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Pass. You can find more information about what these entail and what rewards you can obtain from their completion via the handy table below.

Although I think this should be available in the game proper for those who play SFV regularly,
I understand that Capcom needs to make money (this is the company
who re-released Street Fighter II an unfathomable number of time to date after all)

Admittedly this is a huge swell of information for what is surely one of Street Fighter V's biggest updates so far. What do you think of the updates that are coming to the game? Will you be downloading and playing as Ed when he becomes available with the update? And do you think Capcom should do things like sign-in bonuses (and perhaps more double-exp./Fight Money earnings weekends) going forwards? Any thoughts, please do share them in the Comments below. Also like and share this and all my other updates via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

Street Fighter V's next DLC character is Ed

Perhaps in a surprise to no-one in the FGC, Capcom has unveiled the next character it will be adding to the roster of its famed fighting game franchise, Street Fighter V

Having been (unintentionally) leaked via the PlayStation Store's listing in its Season 2 character pass, Ed is the protégé of burly boxer Balrog and a potential replacement body for M. Bison (hence his flourishes of psycho power during his attacks).

You can check out the trailer for the upcoming character below. He will also be included in the upcoming Beta which will run from May 11th - 14th (Thursday through Sunday). Or will be few to participate for both PC and PS4 players (you done even need to own the game to play).

What do you think of the next DLC Fighter to be added to Street Fighter V? And will you be participating in the upcoming Beta later this week? Do share any thoughts in the Comments section below. Also like and share this update via Facebook, Twitter or your social media network of choice.

Marvel has been considerate enough to share a variety of screens for its upcoming Capcom-developed 2-vs-2 fighter, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. You can check these out below.

Next we have more details on the updated release of developer French Bread's weapons: based fighter, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st].

We are already aware of whip-wielding Phonon and power gauntlet-wearing Mika. Dark martial artist Enkidu was recently detailed in this news update over at Gameatsu. That leaves one additional as of yet unconfirmed character to add to the cast.

A recent post over at Shoryuken has rumoured that this could be either Erika Wagner or Uzuki (characters that have either shown up in the existing game's scenario or via concept art.

It wouldn't be too unexpected and more new additions to the existing roster if what is quite the interesting 1-on-1 fighter are always welcome.

There will also be a Capcom Pro Tour competition taking place on Austin, Texas this weekend with its Dreamhack Expo.

Capcom will be streaming many of the matches which you can catch over at its Twitch channel here.
